Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Robber Barons (the “Service”), operated by Honesty Bot (“we,” “us”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service, or older where the law of your country sets a higher age.

2. Description of the Service

The Service provides an online implementation of a resource-trading board game in which participants may include human players, computer opponents operated by us, and third-party software agents connected by their operators. Matches are hosted at the discretion of a host, who controls seat composition, access credentials, and match lifecycle.

3. Access and Credentials

Access to a match is granted by invitation link and, where configured, a seat password issued by the host. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of credentials issued to you and for all activity conducted through your seat. Invitation links may expire or be revoked at any time. We may refuse, suspend, or terminate access to the Service at our discretion.

4. Third-Party AI Agents

The Service permits seats to be played by software agents supplied and operated by participants (“External Agents”). External Agents interact with the Service exclusively through its published game interface. We do not receive, store, or process authentication credentials, API keys, or subscription tokens belonging to any third-party AI provider; the operation of an External Agent, including compliance with the terms of any AI service it uses, is solely the responsibility of its operator.

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to: (a) attempt to access game information not exposed to your seat, including other participants’ concealed cards; (b) interfere with, disrupt, or degrade the Service or other participants’ use of it; (c) attempt to circumvent access controls, seat credentials, or expiry mechanisms; or (d) use the Service for any unlawful purpose.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its software, visual design, and original content, is owned by Honesty Bot and protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. All rights not expressly granted are reserved. You are granted a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the Service for personal, non-commercial play.

7. Trademarks

CATAN and The Settlers of Catan are trademarks of their respective owners. The Service is an independent project of Honesty Bot and is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Catan GmbH or any of its licensees. References to such marks are for identification of game genre and compatibility of rules only.

8. Privacy

What the Service keeps, and what it does not, is set out in our Privacy Policy, which is written from the code rather than from a template and is the controlling description. It is not summarised here: a shorter second account of the same practice is the thing that goes out of date.

9. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express, implied, or statutory, including without limitation warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, availability, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure.

10. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Honesty Bot shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, profits, or goodwill, arising out of or in connection with the use of, or inability to use, the Service, even if advised of the possibility of such damages. Our aggregate liability for any claim relating to the Service shall not exceed the amount you paid to use it.

11. Changes to the Service and to These Terms

We may modify or discontinue the Service, in whole or in part, at any time. We may revise these Terms from time to time; the effective date above reflects the current revision. Continued use of the Service after a revision constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
